New Tip Top polishes *pic heavy*

Hi lovelies,

It’s finally 2015!  I hope you have had a great festive season.  I spent way too much time in the sun and in the pool (and got really burnt) as you will probably see by the tan.  It has been great but I am so ready to get back to my regular routine.  I can’t wait to see what the year has in store.  Let me know how your holiday or festive season was.  (Also, I had such a great time holidaying that I might not be ready in time for tomorrows Tuesday Stamping post.  I promise if it doesn’t go up it will definitely be up next week – sorry!)

I’m sure most of you have seen the news by now that Tip Top will be closing down.  They did promise ‘bigger and better’ things to come this year and I can’t wait to see what they come up with.  I don’t want to jump the gun but I really hope it is in the line of these polishes I am showing you.  *fingers crossed*.

Before I show them to you I just want to make a few points that are applicable to all of these.  Saves me having to say it for every one.  I almost always show you swatches without topcoat.  I want you to see how it looks on it’s own, how it dries, how shiny it is etc.  With these however, I realised pretty quickly that the topcoat could make a difference.  So all of these are without topcoat but I did topcoat my ring finger nail on all of them.  I will mention anything related to it per polish.  These are also all glitter packed polishes.  I applied them as I would a normal creme polish to test ease of application etc.  I didn’t do anything special or specific to get these results.  Alrighty, let’s go.

Tip Top – Milkyway

This is 2 coats with no topcoat (except ring). This is a white jelly base with small glitter in various colours.  I see yellow, green, orange, dark blue, light blue, white and red.  There are also some bigger silver hexes.  Application was great.  I found all of these to be a little thicker on consistency than ‘normal’ polishes but this one was not hard to work with at all.  I really liked the glitter coverage as well.  This does dry a little gritty but with topcoat it smoothed out well.  It did need 2 coats of topcoat to be completely smooth although 1 coat was only slightly ‘bumpy’. (The white base here is very similar to Tip Top – Cream puff)

Tip Top – Speck-tacular

This is 2 coats with no topcoat (except on ring).  It is a light blue base with small dark blue glitter with slightly bigger holo silver glitter and purple glitter.  The coverage was great and the glitter perfect density so it spread well when applying.  As with Milkyway, it was slightly thicker than regular creme polish but easy to work with.  It also dries slightly gritty and I used 2 coats of topcoat to get it smooth. (The base is similar in colour to Tip Top – Beach babe)

Tip Top – Love that shine

This is 2 coats with no topcoat (except on my ring).  It is a light pink base with multi coloured small glitter (red, dark blue, light blue, white, yellow, orange, green) and bigger silver hexes.  The glitter in this is the same as in Milkyway except a bit less dense.  You will see this has a bit less glitter in compared to Milkyway.  I think I actually like it this way.  It also didn’t dry as gritty as Milkyway and only needed one coat of topcoat to get it really smooth.  Great formula and easy application.  (The base is similar to Tip Top – Melting marshmallow)

Tip Top – Diva glam

I had the hardest time trying to photograph this one.  This is 2 coats with no topcoat (except on ring).  It is a purple base with a similar glitter mix as Speck-tacular – Small dark blue and slightly bigger purple and silver – just much more of it. I actually struggled a bit with this one.  My bottle was much thicker than the others and with the tons of glitter I had to be careful when applying.  It wasn’t impossible to use though (and I suspect my bottle was used in the store).  This also dried very gritty and needed 2 thick layers of topcoat to be smooth.  It’s also really shiny and sparkly which is something my camera struggled a bit with 😉

Tip Top – Sparkle queen

This is 2 coats with no topcoat (except on ring).  It is the one I was most excited about it as it is something a little different.  It is a black base with small and larger holo silver glitter (think Tip Top – Rocky road glitter in black base) and is actually so gorgeous. This wasn’t wasn’t as thick as some of the others and applied really well.  One thing I should mention is that if you are just applying like you would normal polish (like I did here) is to keep an eye on the big glitter.  You can see on my middle finger the glitter clumped a little and layered a bit and it made it look a little funny. It was also really bumpy on that spot.  So if you apply and it happens just use the brush to try and spread them out a little.  This also didn’t dry very gritty and only needed one coat of topcoat to be smooth.

Tip Top – Ready steady glow

This is 2 coats with no topcoat (except on ring).  The first thing I need to mention here is the colour.  This has a (very) slight pink tone to it which my camera didn’t pick up at all.  On some of the bigger glitter you can see it is a little pink toned.  The slight pink tone gave it a rusty orange look on ME.  I say on me because it does NOT look like this on other people.  I don’t know if my bottle is different (or faulty) or if this is just how the colour turns on me but it is very different from acidicice version on HER.  You can have a look at her post here where she used it as an accent and you will see hers is much more red / berry toned than mine.  I don’t know why but anyway.  This is a base of whatever colour you want to call it or you have 😛 with small green and (I think) gold glitter and larger silver hexes.  This applied really well and had great glitter coverage.  It also only needed one coat of topcoat to get it smooth.  With all the weirdness that was this polish – different colour and all that – I actually really liked it.  More than I thought I would.  (If you have Tip Top – Flamenco pink, I think the base of this is very similar to that.  Which out of interest, also turns orangey on me.  This made me think it might just be the way the colour works on me)

That it!  What do you think of them? Which one is your favourite?  It is so nice to have some mainstream polishes that are so unique and ‘indie’ like.  Especially for us here in SA where everything has crazy expensive shipping – if they ship here at all.  Let me know what you think.
