Hey guys,
Happy Wednesday! Have you had a good week so far? Mine has been good but it has been sooooo cold! I am loving it anyway. Layers of clothes and all. It does make getting up in the morning a little tougher but you win some you lose some I guess 😉
Don’t worry, I am not going to inundate you with swatch posts. I am probably just going to do one post a week with some swatches but I might even spread that out a bit more too. Let me know if you get sick of them 😉
Today I am showing you the Pastels collection which was the spring 2017 collection (the US spring, not the South African spring). As the name suggests, this is a collection of pastel cremes, some soft shades and some bright shades. Let’s have a look,
China Glaze – a waltz in the park
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a light purple / lilac creme with a beautiful formula. This applied so easily and beautiful. Even though the colour isn’t really unique it is really pretty and a great formula and opacity is always a win.
China Glaze – Are you orchid-ing me?
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a pale pink toned lilac or a purple toned pink. I believe it is described as a ‘soft orchid’ which is actually so accurate without saying what colour it is. This is one of my favourites in this collection. Not only does it have a great formula it is also a beautiful colour.
China Glaze – Belle of a baller
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a slightly brighter pink than it looks (thanks camera-that-hates-pink). This is a pink I have used a few times already and I really like the shade of pink as well as the formula. It applies beautifully. It is opaque in two coats for me but I have seen some people needing three. The formula is great so even if you needed 3 it would be easy to apply.
China Glaze – Casual Friday
This is 3 coats with no topcoat. I really really like this shade of yellow and even though this one is nice, I have had nicer formulas. This is 3 coats and I am unsure if it could’ve done with a fourth. It isn’t the most opaque but the formula is nice enough and it applies well. It is a little uneven in the first coat but levels out well on the second and third.
China Glaze – Chalk me up
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a sky blue creme. This is such a beautiful colour and the formula is pretty good too. It is a little patchy on the first coat but covers up beautifully on the second.
China Glaze – My sweet lady
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a light pastel pink creme. It applied really well for such a light shade with really good opacity. It was a little uneven on the first coat but only needed 2 to even out. Thanks to my camera-that-hates-pink I always have to double check my pink swatches but this is very close to accurate. The polish is maybe 1 shade more pink.
China Glaze – Spring jungle
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is another one of my favourites from this collection. It is a pale green (it reminds me of Sinful Colours – Lagon) with such a stunning formula. This one had a great formula and opacity. I got great coverage on the first coat. I love this colour!
China Glaze – That’ll peach you
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is the brightest colour of the collection. There are other bright colours but they are more ‘pastel bright’. This one is just bright. The formula is great and it applied really well.
I don’t know how I feel about this collection. I obviously love the colours and the polishes are all great. They are all cremes and not all the colours are unique. I can’t find a logical reason NOT to have them because they really are beautiful but I also can’t help wondering if I have other polishes that are very similar. I have a few pastel yellow’s, greens, pink and even peaches all from China Glaze. If you want to see any comparison let me know.
What do you think of this collection? Do you have any of them? Are there any that stand out to you? Any must haves? Let me know what you think.
