Hi lovelies,
It is the first of the Blogger of the Month feature and I am super duper excited. It’s also not so hot today so yay me!!
The reason why I am in love with polish and nail art in the first place is all because of Siobhan from For the Love of Nail Art. It was her inspiration and creative designs that sparked the flame and created this monster that is my obsession. I will forever be grateful and therefore it is only fitting that she kicks off this series. Let me introduce you to Siobhan (or V as she is better known)…..
-
Please tell us more about yourself and your blog
My name is Siobhan, most call me V or Voni. During the day I work at a construction company as the voice of the company. In my spare time I read, spend time with my furkids and fiance. My blog is about my passion of nail art so I try and do a tutorial per week and showcase cool polish. I take part in various overseas challenges.

How did you get into polish?
It runs in my family. My mother owns more polishes that I do so I get my love for polish from her. My blog started because a friend told me to join Tip Top’s Facebook page and then I just took off trying to learn nail art.
-
What is your own favourite kind of nail art / swatch that you’ve done?
My favourite is probably Tip Top’s Stormy Sky as that was my first side angle swatch which is always a feature when I do swatches. That has always been my favourite swatch photo.
My favourite nail art is a tough one because I’ve done SO many… Maybe my Dragon nail art that I did for The Lacquer Ring. A lot of the art that I’ve done for those challenges have been favourites of mine.
-
What is your favourite kind of nail art / technique?
Freehand
-
What technique gives you grey hairs? Which one can you just not master or is your least favourite?
Stamping because it’s so hard and I don’t know why haha!
Water marble is another arch nemisis who has won the battle with me.
-
How do you get your nail time on? (Work at night, early in the morning etc)
During the week, I’ll work at night but I keep my nails more simple for work and then during the weekend I spend quite a bit of time doing my nails for the various challenges I take part in or whatever pops in my head.
-
What has been your proudest moment so far?
Ummm boy, I loved doing the articles for Ubuntu Deal ages ago and I’m still proud of that (here And here).
I’d also say going to study nails and doing peoples nails especially when the let me do nail art on them.
-
Would you share your ‘nail station’ with us? Show us where the magic happens
My electronic nail station is www.fortheloveofnailart.co.za I try not babble too much but sometimes I do. My actual nail station is my dresser.
You can see all my tools up on the bookshelf, the dresser which I cleaned of nail polish and then next to it, I keep all the polishes.
-
Most embarrassing nail moment or nail fail? (feel free to show us)
I’ve done a lot of stamping fails hehehehehe it’s hard don’t judge me *pouts*
I’ve had worse than the below but this one I didn’t delete.
-
What polish would you sell your soul for?
Color Club – Cosmic Fate
-
What is your favourite snack while doing your nails?
Who snacks when doing their nails? I haven’t gotten that memo. Oh boy!
-
Which cartoon character do you relate to most?
Ummm I always felt I was a little like Chucky from the Rugrats or Marge Simpson because she’s always struggling with Homer HAHA!
-
The only polish colours in front of you are black, electric blue and neon orange. What do you do and what do you use – and why?
I think I’d paint my nails half and half on each nail with the blue and neon orange, tape weird designs on and paint over that with black then remove the tape.
-
Compare your favourite tv / movie crush with a polish and why?
James Franco, he’d be like a beautiful holo because every time he smiles he takes my breath away just like a holo does.
He’d make a nice nude polish too *wink wink*
-
If you could create your own custom polish, what would it be and what would it be named?
This is a tough question hey. Shoo.
I’d like to make maybe a glitter polish filled with tiny stars in neon colours and with holographic pixie dust thrown in, suspended in a clear base so you could wear it over any colour.
I’d name it Rainbow Star Dust by V (for V).

Lesley
I enjoyed reading this, too, and also hope you keep the series going. My favorite part was learning where V caught her nail bug from…I didn’t previously know that about her!

Thanks so much Lesley! Yes I also love finding out little tidbits like that.
