Half way through the week already! Isn’t it flying? I haven’t slept much (and by much I mean at all) but I am super excited to do The Color Run this weekend. Hopefully I make it to the end for the glitter. I just want to be a colourful glittery unicorn at the end.
I mentioned a while ago that I was doing this comparison. It took a little longer than I had hoped to get it up but here we are. Both of these polishes are so gorgeous but I can see why a comparison would be a good idea. I initially waited on getting #Paradise because I did think it was the same as Splash. Splash is from the ‘old’ Colour & Go range and #Paradise is from the ‘new’ The Gel range. Let me show you the polishes on their own first.
Essence – Splash
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. Splash is a duochrome with a green / blue to dark purple / dark blue shift. Great formula and opacity. It also has a bit of a foil look to it. Here is another angle.
Essence – #Paradise
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. #Paradise is also a duochrome with a green to blue with a hint of purple shift. Great formula and opacity. Doesn’t have as much of a foil appearance as Splash. Here is another angle
Can you see why it might seem like they are the same? If you weren’t looking at them at the same time or next to each other you might think they were the same. So let’s look at them compared directly next to each other.
Here I have 2 coats of #Paradise on my pinky and ring and 2 coats of Splash on my middle and index. No topcoat. Splash is more blue toned compared to #paradise being more green toned. They both have some hints of green and blue but different shades of. Here is another angle
You can also see the shifts are a little different. Splash has a more darker purple / blue shift and #paradise more green to lighter purple with hints of blue. Both of these are really gorgeous. Do I think you NEED both? Probably not. They are definitely different but similar enough to not need both. If you could get your hands on both though I would definitely say they are both worth it. They do stamp, they have a great formula and are just slightly different enough to not be dupes. If you don’t have both, don’t worry too much about it. Whichever one of these you have is still gorgeous and you can’t go wrong with either.
What do you think? Too similar or different enough? Do you have either of these? Maybe both? Let me know what you think and if you think having both is doable or unnecessary.
