31DC2016 Day 16: Geometric

Happy Friday! Remember how I was saying it has been quite chilly but warmer weather was coming?  Well the forecast for today is 34′.  It was 36 but it has now dropped to 34.  Which basically means it could be anything between 30 and 40.  In other words, I might die.  If you don’t see any more posts from me, it was nice knowing you 😉

You know the drill, here is the list of prompts. Also, we are now past the half way mark!!  How exciting.  I am thrilled that I have not completely freaked out yet. 🙂

Today is geometric and I love geometric.  This whole thing was a bit of an experiment and I kinda liked the end result.  I would’ve changed a few things (I’ll tell you what) but it turns out I used the last of my square vinyls so I didn’t redo it.  Instead I took photos and here we are 😀

I started with 1 coat of Sinful Colors – Snow me white on all my nails and left that to dry.  I then did a sponged gradient.  On my pinky and index I did a gradient using China Glaze – Bottoms up and China Glaze – Too yacht to handle.  On my middle and ring I did a gradient using China Glaze – Flip flop fantasy and China Glaze – That’s shore bright.  I then used a quick dry topcoat because I knew I was going to use vinyls and I didn’t want any pulled up polish.  I then placed a square vinyl on each nail and did another sponged gradient.  This time I reversed and inverted the colors.  So I used the pinky and index gradient on the middle and ring but I also used the colour that was at the tip on the cuticle side.  I made sure to remove the vinyls immediately after I was done with each nail.  I topcoated again and viola.

What I would’ve changed is firstly, a better bottom gradient on my ring and middle finger.  I then would’ve turned the colours around so that the pink and purple didn’t go together but instead the pink with the orange.  I think the pink and purple is too similar so the contrast isn’t enough or as much as the turquoise and orange.  I still think it came out ok-ish.  What do you think?
