Hello lovelies,
Yay for Friday!
This is it, the second last prompt of the challenge. Only one more to go…..
There are MANY tutorials out there and my Pinterest board is pinned with a million. In the end I decided to go with this tutorial from Nails by Cassis. (You guys know I am a fan, this is not the first time I am inspired by her designs) This is a YouTube tutorial which I will include below if you do want to watch it.
Now that you have seen perfection, let me show you mine.
I started with 1 coat if Essence – Wild white ways and left that to dry completely. While I waited I actually made the decals but I will get to those in a bit. I then did a smooth using Essence – Be awesome tonight, Essence – a whisper of spring, Essence – Love is in the air and Essence – Play with my mint. Once I was happy with each nail I topcoated because there was still a bit to do. I then stamped on my pinky and ring finger using Pueen110 and Mundo de unas – white and on my middle and index I stamped using BP56 and Mundo de unas – white. I placed these images randomly on the nail and used white so the stamping would be subtle and create some depth. I then added the decals. I used BM718 and Mundo de Unas – Black to stamp the butterflies and then I used the same colours in the base to colour them in. Each one slightly different. Once they were dry I cut them to size and applied them on each nail. I then stamped the dragonflies using BP74 and Mundo de Unas – Black. I added one final topcoat and that was it.
I really really really like this even though it isn’t near as beautiful or perfect as the tutorial. I realized that my mistake was using the same colours as the base for the butterflies. It is done that way in the tutorial but I think the polishes she used was a bit more sheer so her original smoosh made the colours lighter. Once she used it in her butterflies it was darker and stood out more. It didn’t quite work out that way for me but I liked it anyway. What do you think?
