Hello lovelies,
Happy Tuesday! If you’re on holiday already I hope you’re having the best time. If you’re still working, hold on, it’s almost time!
Alrighty, I promised you the new Essence trend collection and that is exactly what I am showing you today. What a great way to end the year off as well right? This will be my last (planned) post for the year and I will be back early in the new year. For now, let me show you some polish.
Before I show you the swatches. Let me just mention a few things about the collection and how I went about swatching it. These are all jelly polishes and I made the decision to swatch them all in 2 coats. Jelly polishes can vary from very sheer (needing many coats to get good coverage) to quite opaque and only needing 2 – 3 coats. That’s why I decided to swatch them all in 2 coats so that there was a clear comparison between them all. Some of them made my nails look like they were a bit dirty which is unfortunate but I think it gives a really good comparison between the 4 polishes and their opacity. So, let’s get cracking.
Essence – I love you cherry much
2 coats with no topcoat. This is a red jelly. This had a beautiful formula. Even though the first coat was sheer it was very even coverage. 2 coats had great opacity. Just look at that shiny juicy finish.
Essence – Orange is the new black
2 coats with no topcoat. This one made my nails look dirty but is actually a very beautiful peachy orange jelly. Also great formula with a sheer but even coverage first coat. You could probably add another coat to get a more opaque finish but I didn’t have the opacity at 2 coats.
Essence – Peach dreams are made of this.
2 coats with no topcoat. This is a very light peachy jelly. I think it is more a nude – as in the colour of my natural nail nude. Even though this is the lightest colour it definitely wasn’t more sheer. It looks a bit sheerer because my tips are so apparent but I thought the opacity was really great considering. As with the other 2, very sheer in 1 one coat but great even coverage.
Essence – You’re one in a melon
2 coats with no topcoat. This is a pink – watermelon – jelly. It’s that shade of pink that my camera hates. An almost coral type pink. Beautiful shade and as with the rest, sheer but even coverage on one coat.
All of them had really great formula. I was really impressed at the even coverage on the first coats. Which means that if you want a sheer jelly you can definitely use this because you will still get even coverage. Perfect for jelly sandwiches and lead lighting but also perfect on their own. For jelly polishes, I am so impressed at the opacity at just 2 coats. I really liked the formula and the squishy shiny finish on all of them. Then, there is the smell. Don’t hold me to it but I am sure these are slightly scented. I didn’t do any research to confirm and it doesn’t say anything on the bottles but I am convinced I could smell the cherry, orange, peach and melon scent. Ever so subtle but there. If I am the only one that could smell it then it might be my subconscious honing in on the labels 😛 I am willing to say they are scented though.
This collection also comes with a detangling brush. I do have a tangle teaser and when using the Essence brush I can say it works really really well and compares well to the Tangle teaser. It is slightly smaller in size but still fits well in your hand. I was a bit disappointed in the price as I think it is on the higher end. If this brush and Tangle teaser were the same price I would lean a bit towards the TT, mostly because of the slightly bigger size. The collection also has the cherry shaped lip balm. It’s a lovely balm and my only complaint is that it isn’t a ball balm. Otherwise, I love it and I am obsessed with the cherry shape.
That’s a wrap folks! Thank you so much for all your love and support throughout the year. It has been a bit of a rough one for me but nothing bad ever lasts forever and I appreciate the love and patience from all of you! I hope you have a blessed and safe festive season and a magical new year. I can’t wait to see you all in the new year where we can start this crazy ride all over again. Thank you, thank you, thank you and I love and appreciate you all! As I said, this is my last planned post for the year. I might pop back for one or two other goodies but I will definitely be back on the 2nd of Jan 2017. Till then, be safe, be crazy and be fun filled!

The jelly Peach looks like white to me. How does it look in reality more peachy or not?

It’s more the colour of my natural nail to be honest. If you have Essence – sweet as candy it is very similar. Just maybe 1 shade less pink and more ‘natural’.
