Hello lovelies,
Are you having a good week so far? Mine has been incredibly full so far with a lot going on. Most notably, learning my neighbour is a dummy. Most fun though is signup opening for this years Polished Secret Santa. You can find more info on Polished Pretties South Africa Facebook group if you’re interested.
For today though, I am showing some new Essence polishes. They recently had a range update and I grabbed a few of them. There has been some new collections and some ranges added as well but these are just additional shades in the The Gel range. Let me show you.
Essence – Eclectic blue
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a very pretty cornflower blue with a very subtle shimmer. Application was fabulous and it was very opaque. It did have the distinct ‘blue polish’ smell but not as bad as some I have experienced. I really love this colour and the formula is top notch
Essence – Hot red chili
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. Seriously guys, how gorgeous is this? This is like a neon red. Stunning buttery formula and almost a one coater. I am convinced this is very close to China Glaze – Hot flash. I will do a comparison if you want to see it but this polish is a stunner! This is a must have.
Essence – Kiss the freaky frog
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a turquoise toned green creme. Once again, a stunning formula and super opaque. The bonus for me is that I did not have any staining with this polish. Not my nails or my skin.
Essence – Miracle stone
This is 2 coats with no topcoat except on my ring finger. This is a matte polish so I added topcoat on my ring finger so you can see how it would look. This is a grey polish with a beautiful pink to violet / blue shimmer. It is the most beautiful grey polish you have to have. It is beautiful in matte but the shimmer in the polish shines once the topcoat is added. This has a really nice formula and opacity.
Essence – Red carpet?
This is 2 coats with no topcoat It is a beautiful red creme with a fab formula. This is also almost a one coater. There is nothing fancy about this polish but it is a beautiful shade of red with a great formula. We all need a few of those in our collections.
Essence – Vibrant purple
This is 3 coats with no topcoat. This is a blue toned purple jelly. I mentioned the blue tone because it is just a flash at a certain angle but when you look at the stamping of it in yesterdays Tuesday Stamping post you can see the blue more clearly on the black. Even though this isn’t as opaque as the others, it is still a great formula and a beautiful colour. Three coats to full opacity is a total winner.
I am so in love with Essences polishes. I say this every time there is a range update but every time they up their game. They are some of the most opaque polishes I have. Well done Essence! What do you think of these? Which one is your favourite? Have you managed to grab some of the range update polishes? I’d love to hear which one is your favourite.

I love all of these! To me the purple and teal do look similar to previous Essences but even if they are, they’re gorgeous polishes.

Yes! They are definitely shades we have seen before. I am not sure how Essence does it but I swear every range update their polish gets more opaque.
