Hey hi.
It’s Wednesday already. I blinked on the weekend and here we are half way through the week again. Can you believe next week is March already? How? Anyway, I am very excited about getting closer and closer to cooler weather so I don’t mind at all. How has y our week been so far?
Do you remember the group of us that did Secret Santa last year? Well we have all created a group on WhatsApp and spend many many hours a day / week chatting about everything. Much of it is nail related. One of the things that were discussed was this instagram post and if it would be possible with regular nail polish. Never one to back away from a challenge, I said I would give it a try. And that is how this post is born. To answer the question, it is possible but not as easy. Regular polish dries faster and and so becomes trickier to ‘spread’. Let me show you what I ended up with anyway,
On my pinky and index I used this marble technique as per the instagram post above. I used Cutex – Flower pout, Essence – Hi, pink panther! and Sinful Colors – Black on black. I did the pinky first as part of my testing and I really liked how it looked so I knew I had to use it. I then did my index nail. It looks quite a bit different than my pinky but I actually like it. Same polish and same technique but such a variety of possibilities. On my middle and ring finger I started with 1 coat of Essence – Hi, pink panther and left that to dry completely. I then did a sponged gradient using the same polish and Cutex – Flower pout. Once the gradient was dry i stamped using BM-XL210 and Mundo de Unas – Black. I topcoated and voila!
Have you tried this technique before? It seems like every time I look there is a different technique or way to do something and I’m just back here trying to paint my nails proper 😛 I do like how this looked and I like the combination but I am not sure if I will be able to pull this marble look off very often. I will say I had sone quite a few nails like this before something looked even close to the original. What do you think? Let me know what you think and what other techniques I need to try to keep up.
Thanks for reading,
Cynthia
