Hey hi guys,
I hope the week has treated you well so far. I can’t even believe it is Wednesday already. I just got into the swing of things and now we are downhill to the weekend again. Today I also have 3 posts. They are all kinda related but I wanted to separate them, mostly for my ease of reference. Hope it’s not too much 😉
When I found out about China Glaze I immediately fell in love. It is one of my favourite mainstream brands and I think the colours are just gorgeous. I learnt very quickly that the magical China Glaze collection was the OMG collection. I got one as a gift and it was magical. I was lucky enough to get my hands on 3 more and those 4 polishes are very prized possessions. When I saw they were doing a ‘remake’ of selected shades I added it to my Wishlist and scooped it up the moment I could. Let me show you and tell you what I think.
China Glaze – 2NITE
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is described as a blue holographic but it is more periwinkle. It has a stunning formula and applies beautifully. I have some observations about these polishes that is applicable to all of them so I am keeping it till the end. This is a linear holo and even though it is very different than a scattered holo I just a love a gorgeous linear holo. These are exquisite without being in your face blinding. My lightbox doesn’t do holo any justice and the fact that it shows up speaks volumes. I don’t like flash photos of nails but I took one to show off the holo a bit more.
China Glaze – BFF
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a magenta pink linear holo with a stunning formula. The opacity on all of these is just fantastic too (more on that later) but of course this one would be a favourite for me because of the colour.
China Glaze – IDK
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a purple linear holo. Even though this has a good formula I did have a slight bit of dragging on the first coat. I was a little concerned at first because it left the first coat looking a bit patchy (but not sheer). it all levelled out beautifully on the second coat and it was beautiful.
China Glaze – OMG
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a silver linear holo with….you guessed it…a fabulous formula.. I just love a gorgeous silver holo and I have so many already but this one doesn’t disappoint. It’s gorgeous.
China Glaze – TTYL
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a coppery toned linear holo and I just adore this colour! It has a stunning formula and opacity and did I mention I LOVE this colour? It’s different and beautiful.
China Glaze – DV8
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a blue linear holo. It is a gorgeous shade and even though it is still holo I was a little surprised that it wasn’t quite as holo as the rest. This is one that I have the original of and I remember it being gorgeously holo. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still holo but I think the other 5 are a smidge more holo. Let me show you this one with flash.
See, still pretty holo. I can also compare formula here to the original. Most of my original OMG polishes are quite thin (watery) but they still apply well. My original DV8 is not thin (and actually neither is my LOL). It is very similar to these new ones. Even tough I never really had an issue with the originals being thin or hard to work with, I can say that none of these are as thin as some of my original OMG polishes are.
I want to talk about these polishes as a whole collection. They all apply really well and easily and are very opaque. I would say for most of them (IDK might be the exception unless you use slightly thicker coats) they could be 1 coaters. Of course, the holo shines more with 2 coats but great coverage in 1 coat. They also have such a gorgeous finish. It is like liquid metal. So these are linear holos but also very metallic. Once I added topcoat it was so ridiculously shiny my eyes were glued. Even without the holo. I am a big fan of this collection as much as I was a big fan of the originals.
As I mentioned, I only have one of these from the original OMG collection so I can’t really compare them all but I did want to compare the one I do have. I also wanted to compare the silver holo with the other silver holo I have from China Glaze which is I sea ponies. I wanted to include them in this post but I feel like this post is quite pic heavy already so I am going to do them as two separate comparison posts. If you’re interested in those then pop on over to the next post 😉
What do you think about this collection? Are you happy to see the comeback? Do you have any of the originals? Which one is your favourite? Do you have a preference between linear holos and scattered holos? Phew…so many questions. Tell me what you think!
Thanks for reading,
