Hey guys,
How is your week treating you? Are you also having the end of year exhaustion? I would say I can’t wait for the holidays but I am not really sure those are super relaxing either ;). Do you have any holiday plans?
I feel like I go months without any new polish and then all of a sudden I have a million new things I want to swatch. After opening my fabulous secret Santa box I feel like I am set for new spoils but no, here we are with new collections out as well. Today I am showing you the China Glaze Paint it black collection. It was released for halloween but I just love it for all year round. The first thing I noticed was the labels. All but one have white labels. My china glaze collection consists mostly of black labels so it was very striking with the white labels. Let me show you the polish.
China Glaze – Ash & burn
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a black base with gold / copper and orange/red glitter. It is ridiculously beautiful and is so opaque it is a one coater. I think with 2 coats you get more and deeper glitter look but you can totally get away with one coat. Applies beautifully and is just gorgeous.
China Glaze – Maliboo-boo
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a black linear holo. This is also very opaque and you could get away with 1 coat if you wanted to. I always think polish looks at its best in 2 though/. The holo is beautiful. I do have other black holos but I am very happy to add this one to my collection. Here is a shot of it with flash to show the holo off a bit more as my Lightbox doesn’t show off the holo at it’s best.
China Glaze – Night and slay
This is 2 coats with topcoat. This is a dense black and silver holo glitter in a clear base. If you have ‘I just canterlot’ or ‘Where’s the party canon at’ from the my little pony collection, then this is very similar but the black version. It is VERY sparkly and bling and quite holo. It’s a little thick formula wise but it isn’t hard to work with. I would suggest taking a moment between coats to avoid it getting thick too quickly or try sponging it on if you’re in a rush. I did neither of these and it was still ok. I did topcoat this swatch because it is a little chunky. Here is a shot of it with flash to show off some of that holo glitter
China Glaze – Pret-a-potion
This is 1 coat over China Glaze – Accent piece. This is a black micro glitter in a clear base. Before I swatched it I wasn’t sure about this one but I actually really like it. This is a pretty dense glitter and I think I might actually like it a bit more if it was less dense for some looks but I like it. It’s pretty interesting. I was curious if you would be able to get full opacity using just the glitter (not sure why because it’s just black) but here is a little experiment anyway.
China Glaze – Shadies & gentlemen
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a matte black in a matching matte bottle. I really like the matte bottle let me just say. I also really like China Glaze mattes lately. They look like velvet. I must mention that it isn’t brush strokes on my nail but actual ridges after all that DIY I did a few months back. It was not noticeable at all in real life but now I realise I should’ve tried a ridge filling base coat. This black is also quite opaque and applies really well. I really like this one (even though I almost never not use topcoat and would mostly use a matte topcoat if I wanted matte. There’s always exceptions though and I am a fan)
China Glaze – Wicked liquid
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a blackened gold with a green tone. This is beautiful and applies like a dream. It is also very opaque and is pretty much a one coater (I still always use 2 though). I didn’t expect to like this one as much as I did. It reminds me of Essence – Loyal royal as well.
What do you think of this collection? I am a big fan and I am so glad to get my grubby paws on it. Which one is your favourite? Do you want to see ay comparisons? Let me know what you think. Also, if you’re in South Africa and want to get your grubby paws on them too you can pop on over to my store and grab some for yourself (limited stock on hand but backorder is done in no more than 5 working days).
