If you look at this photo does it look like I am wearing the same gold polish on all my nails? At first glance it really does look like it but it is actually not.
This is not a colour that I would wear on it’s own at all but to test this out I wore the gold for a few days.
This is actually Revlon – Gold Rush and Essence – Go Bold. I got the Revlon shade at Dischem a while back and then spotted the Essence shade a few days after. This is definitely my preferred shade of gold. It’s less yellow toned so suits me a bit better. This shade of gold actually looks gorgeous with a pink or peach. Anyway, I am sure you’re wondering which is which?
So I have Revlon – Gold Rush on my pinky and my middle finger and Essence – Go Bold on my ring finger and pointer finger. Another reason why I had to test these polishes was the difference in price. The Revlon polish was R89.99 and the Essence is R19.99. I would imagine for that difference in price there would be a significant difference between these polishes. On these photo’s the two don’t look 100% the same but in real life they look exactly the same. So what other difference did I notice?
Formula on these were about the same. The Revlon dried a bit faster but I am talking slightly faster. On the second day the Revlon on my pinkie had a small chip in it. Almost like it lifted. I am not sure if it was something I did because it was also the only chip I had at all. By day 4 I was sick of wearing the same colour for so long so I took it off but in my opinion both polishes held up pretty well and the wear on these were about the same. Which begs the question. Why do you need a R89.99 bottle of polish when a R19.99 bottle does the same thing? I have no idea…..
I guess this just proves that you don’t always need the most expensive polish to get a good polish. I am also not saying you must go for the cheapest 😉 I just wanted to share my little experiment.
PS: apparently I am posting too much nail stuff? Should I leave all that to a once a week post? Should I clearly mark in the title if it is nail related so you can skip it if it’s not for you? Also, if you want to see nail stuff, do you want to see different polishes or just art /tips? Let me know if you have an opinion on this. 🙂
