Hi lovelies,
I hope you’re having a great start to the weekend.
Let’s be real here. I don’t really do water marbles. Not because I don’t like them but because I suddenly have lost all ability to do them. The very first water marble I did came out perfectly. I am not ashamed to say I nailed it. The next one I did was a little more troublesome but I soon got it right and it also came out perfectly. Since then, I have just not been able to do it. I get perfect spreading in the water, beautiful patterns but the minute my fingers touch the water it all goes to pieces. *sigh*. I think after this challenge I should take a day and just do water marbles till I get it right again. When that happens, you will definitely see a stack of marbles here 😛
Nevertheless, the prompt calls for a water marble and that is what you will get – even if it isn’t anything to write home about.
I started with a white base and using Sally Hansen – Blinding blue and Sally Hansen – Pretty in hot pink I went to work. In some of my failed attempt I did get the outer rings to make a very pretty lined pattern and I really wanted to use that. As you can see, the closer it got to the tip the more smudging happened. The blue was turning a little purple because the pink and blue mixed. Theoretically, that would be a fail but I actually really liked it. It created an almost ombre effect. Please don’t look too closely though 😛
Well that’s about it for marble. I do have some swatches for you.
Sally Hansen – Blinding blue
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It could probably do with a third coat. It’s a lovely blue but not entirely unique. It is also a bit of a stainer so definitely double up on the base coat. Although it didn’t stain my nails but it did stain my skin when I removed it.
Sally Hansen – Pretty in hot pink
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. A beautiful bright pink creme. I really like this one and apparently so did my camera. 😉
Here is the poster with the prompts in case you want to follow along or even just to see what’s coming up. You can also check out other posts from todays prompt by checking out the Inlinkz goodie below or following the #31DC2014 on all social media platforms.
