Did you have a good weekend? The weather turned really chilly yesterday. Durban spoils us with the warm winter weather so when we have real winter weather we really feel it. Luckily I prefer cold weather to hot weather so I don’t mind at all.
I mentioned here that I have a few of the Essence updates where certain colours were ‘upgraded’ and slightly changed. For the most part I really like the old and the new and can happily have both in my collection. This is the first one that is different for me. Let me show you.
The old Hello marshmallow is a pastel lilac with a subtle shimmer. Pretty much gorgeous in my opinion. The new Hello marshmallow is just a little meh. It looks gorgeous in the bottle. It looks like a lilac version of Pink & proud (which made me very happy – I love Pink & proud) The first coat is barely visible but builds up well with the second coat. The colour just seems a bit….meh. I don’t know. I don’t hate it but I definitely don’t love it. I much prefer the old version to the new. Application didn’t have any issues on either.
Both of these are 2 coats with no topcoat. Again, good application on both.
I might be a little too harsh on the new version. What do you think? Which one do you prefer? I do think the Essence range is missing a good lilac creme so I definitely think there is a place in the collection for the old version.

Sometimes I wish companies could leave perfect colours alone… I LOVE Essence Hello Marshmallow… But the new one… Nope…. Don’t like it at all.
YES!! I actually really dislike the new one the more I try to use it. Such a pity because the old one was gorgeous and in my opinion, a much needed colour in their range.
I don’t like the new one hey. TAKE BACK THE NEW ONE ESSENCE AND BRING BACK THE OLD FOREVER

What?! These are so different! I definitely prefer the old one…it’s so pretty! The finish is completely different on the new one and it seems paler.
I completely agree, it is a completely different polish. I just can’t like the new one. 🙁
I like both. The new one has been sitting in my untrieds for quite some time now. I should pull it out soon. Question is…does it stamp?
Gosh I really should test it. Sorry. The more I try to use it the less I like it :/
Hmm the new one is uber beautiful but I dont think they should have replaced the old one, they could have had both 🙁
I definitely think they could’ve kept both. They are different enough too. I much prefer the old one.
I have both of them but never use the new one!
