Hello lovelies,
Did you have a good weekend? I am still feeling a bit whiney so it’s best I don’t say too much. The weekend seems to have gone by in a blur but it was pretty good. We’ve had some crazy stupid storms here lately and that combined with the non-stop rain is driving a little crazy. On the other hand, when the sun does come out it is crazy humid. Maybe I should just get used to the rain 😛
One good thing is the Essence range update which includes a bunch of new polishes. I always look forward to these and I must admit, the polishes seem to get better and better. I didn’t think it was possible but it’s true. I find Essence polishes to be super consistent with great formulas, great colours and really opaque polishes. There is another brand out there that I almost never buy because I just don’t feel confident that it will deliver on what you see in the bottle. What looks like a beautiful bright shade ends up being dull and super sheer on the nail. I never have that problem with Essence and considering the price I think it is a huge bargain. Anyway, let me show you the polishes I did grab.
Essence – Coral me crazy
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It is a beautiful coral pink creme with a stunning formula. This was such an opaque beautiful polish with a gorgeous shiny finish. This is also quite a summery shade whereas many of these are darker, more wintery. Just beautiful.
Essence – Dreaming of love?
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a dusty rose pink creme, again with a stunning formula. I really fell in love with this shade. It’s such a classic shade that sometimes can be labeled as ‘old’ but is actually so beautiful and quite flattering. Stunning colour, stunning formula, fantastic opacity.
Essence – Feels like birthday
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a beautiful rasberry pink creme that is a one coater. Actually, I am willing to say that all but one of the polishes I am showing you today are one coaters. Most of them are one coaters but do look a bit better in 2 coats. In other words, a smidge darker or a smidge shinier but one or two look no different between 1 and 2 coats. This one looked exactly the same in 1 and 2 coats. Also, this is such a beautiful colour! Stunning formula as well. I am in love with this polish.
Essence – Gossip girl
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It is a beautiful medium grey creme. Stunning shade of grey and one of those shades you can never have enough of. This polish has a stunning formula with a shiny finish and fantastic opacity. Can you see this polish with Feels like birthday? <3
Essence – Jeans on!
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It’s a beautiful dusty cornflower blue creme. This is also a one coater. Once I had this on my nails I had a hard time taking it off. It’s beautiful and if you have a look at Pantone colour of the year Serenity you see this polish. Applied like a dream with a beautiful formula and opacity. Definitely a beautiful polish and I suspect unique to my collection as well.
Essence – More than a feeling
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It’s a burgundy red creme. Stunning formula and shiny finish. I can’t wait to use this more in the colder months.
Essence – My hula hoop
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It’s a beautiful soft baby pink creme. This is the only one that I don’t think you can get away with one coat. It isn’t streaky or bad but it definitely needs 2 coats to be fully opaque. It is a beautiful formula and such a nice colour too.
Essence – Olive you
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It’s an olive green creme. I fell in love with this colour when I wore it. Stunning formula and beautifully opaque. I am strangely drawn to this shade and it is so much more beautiful than I expected.
Essence – Perfect match
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It’s a nudish, pink / peach creme. It’s really quite a beautiful colour and very versatile. It’s a great base for nail art and also very office appropriate. Formula was fabulous. I don’t know why I always expect these light shades to be streaky or sheer but this one could be a one coater. Beautiful shiny finish like all the others too.
Essence – Plump power
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. Wow! This is a dark plum creme with burgundy undertones. This colour looks like a purple toned polish but in some light it looked like burgundy tone. Either way, it’s delicious! This is another one that is perfect for the colder months but I might just have to grab for it sooner. Beautiful formula and gorgeous shiny finish.
Essence – Pretty cool life
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a dusty minty green creme. It is quite a pretty colour and again, the formula is stunning! I just love the shiny finishes of these polishes. This polish reminds me a bit of Tip Top – Hap-pea but I don’t think I have anything else like it.
Essence – Royal blue
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. It’s a beautiful navy blue creme. This you guys. It’s stunning! I love this dark shade and I already have a million ideas to use it. Stunning formula as well, not surprising.
Essence – Where is my crown
One coat over My hula hoop
One coat over Jeans on!
One coat over Royal blue – 2 coats on index finger.
At first I was a little underwhelmed by this topper. I suppose the look of the bottle gave me a different impression. I think I expected gold flakies or a more metallicy look. The topcoat is pretty but just not what I expected. It is very dense so I don’t think you need more than 1 coat. On my index over Royal blue I am wearing 2 thin coats and it really takes away from the polish underneath, unless your intention is to have a more glittery look. Like I said, I was a little underwhelmed at first but I think wearing it over My hula hoop might’ve been what changed my mind a bit. I much prefer it over the lighter colour than the darker colours. It is a clear base with silver flakies and gold glitter. I think I might try this under stamping or maybe in a jelly sandwich to see if it pops more. It’s pretty, but not mind blowing. I’ve seen other toppers from Essence that would fill the ‘jewelry’ label better. It’s not terrible though. it has a great formula and like I said, super dense. I will definitely try it in other ways to see how it works out.
So that is it. What do you think of these new polishes in the Essence range update? Do you have any of them? Which one is your favourite? It’s really hard for me to choose a favourite because I really love them all but Feels like birthday is just stunning! Let me know if you’ve tried the topper Where is my crown and what you think of it. Am I just being too judgy and showing that I am not a fan of glitter toppers?
Thanks for reading,
Renita
I am actually not blown away by any of these polishes. Usually I have I list of what I’m gonna get but now meh….. Maybe I need to see how they stamp 😉

I will admit that none of them are blow away colours but they are beautiful to work with. I think they are more winter / autumn colours and we are heading into summer so it’s hard to relate to them. I am happy to have them though. You’re in luck though, 4 of them will be up tomorrow for Tuesday stamping 😉

I swear their polishes just become meow opaque every time they release new shades. They are really impressing me.
