Hey guys,
Happy Heritage Day fellow South Africans! I hope everyone is enjoying their public holiday, especially considering it is a Monday right? Today is also known as Braai day but the weather we have been having here I doubt there is much ‘braaing’ happening today. Although we don’t often get put off by weather right? Anyway, I hope you had a great weekend so far and that today just adds more sparkle.
The 31 Day Challenge is usually done in September although you can do it any time of the year. If you want to find out more information you can find everything you need to know as well as the Inlinkz for the prompts here thanks to Cathy from More Nail Polish. Here are the prompts you can look forward to
The prompt today is inspired by a book and I was quite excited about this one. I love reading but this year has been terrible as far as reading goes. I just never seem to have time anymore but I really need to make time. One of my favourite books of all time is Rainfall by Melissa Delport (I even posted about it here). Rainfall gave me all the feels and was full of twists and turns. Seriously my most favourite book. I just love Melissa’s books in general and every single one I have read so far has been amazing, so the next book on my ‘to be read’ list is ‘The Clock Keeper’ by Mellisa. Let me show you the crazy gorgeous cover.
Isn’t that just a gorgeous cover? I was both excited and nervous. Let me show you what I did,
I started with 2 coats of Sinful Colors – Cool grey on all my nails and left that to dry completely. I then used Sinful Colors – Black on black to do some minor dry brush spots on the grey just to get some of the darker bits of texture on the grey. Once it was all dry I stamped the spiral shapes using Lina – Make your mark 01 and first Mundo de Unas – pastel yellow and then stamped again with Mundo de Unas – Gold. I then used BM-605 and Mundo de Unas – Black to stamp the ‘half clock’ image on my ring finger. I used BM-609 and Mundo de Unas – Black to stamp the other clocks on the spirals on the rest of my nails. I topcoated and then randomly placed some metal gear studs from Born Pretty Store on each nail. That was that.
I am really really happy with how it turned out. I was so nervous about doing it justice. I don’t know if you would know it is this book if I didn’t tell you but I think it’s a good enough job. Even if it wasn’t for anything specific, I really like it anyway. What do you think? Does it do the cover justice? Do you enjoy reading? What is your favourite book? Or at least the one you would use in this prompt.

Thanks for reading,

This mani by itself is awesome AND it matches the book perfectly! You have done an amazing job. LOVE LOVE LOVE them.

Yay! Thank you so much! I really liked these but I liked that cover way more! 😛
Juanita
You nailed this!! Completely!
Michelle Roberts
thank you so much. I was so inspired by that cover.
Joyce
Beautiful!! Only thing I can think of (yup, nit-picking again) is change the base for a warmer grey, maybe even a cream colored polish to imitate the cover even more.
Michelle Roberts
Yes yes yes!! Great suggestion! Once I was done I actually wished I had used a lighter or creamer base colour. Thank you! xx
