Hey hi hello
Yay it’s Friday! Well for me it’s more like Sunday already. I sure am enjoying the long weekend. How has your week been? Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?
I had this idea in my head for grungy style nail art. I knew how I wanted the base to look but I wasn’t sure what would be the final bits. In the end I just went for it. Let me show you what I did,
I started with 1 coats of Sinful Colors – snow me white on all my nails and left that to dry completely. I then did a sponged gradient using China Glaze – Bourgeois beige, China Glaze – Pixilated and China Glaze – Head to taupe. These shades of nude polishes make for beautiful gradients. Once that was dry I stamped over that with Lina – Make your mark 02 and Mundo de Unas – bronze. I used this for the grungy textured base. I then stamped over that with Lina – Make your mark 01 and Mundo de Unas – Black. I topcoated and once it was dry, I used a matte topcoat.
What do you think? It wasn’t exactly what I had in mind but I actually really like how it turned out. I don’t know if it is very obvious in my photos but the bronze textured stamping was so beautiful and the metallic really showed up beautifully under the black. At the right angle it almost looked like it was glowing. I was worried it would be too much and the gradient would get lost but I think it works. What do you think?
Thanks for reading,
Joyce
Wow… there is so much going on on your nails!
Love the gradient, LOVE the color combination, so for me it’s kind of a shame the base is covered with so many butterflies.
It definitely works but I can’t help but wonder what it would have looked like if those bugs were a bit smaller or fewer…

You know, something I didn’t mention in the post is that I was wondering if I should’ve kept the butterflies to one or two nails and let the base shine on the others. This kinda confirms that. I really liked the base too but I agree the stamping covers so much of it.
