Hey guys,
I hope your week has been great so far! We have had the absolute worst weather here lately (ok maybe not the worst, but it hasn’t been fun) and I am solidly over it. Reports say it is getting worse from tomorrow so hold thumbs I’ll see you on the flip side!
It’s time for the next instalment of Polished Pretties Monthly Mani. The secret Santa girls group (affectionally known as Polished Pretties – mostly because of the facebook group of the same name) had a discussion one day about how the Friday Triad feature was born. So we came up with the idea of doing something similar. On the second Wednesday of every month one of us will choose something as inspiration. It can be any image and it can be interpreted in any way. The ladies involved are (linking to IG) Heather, Melliska, Thea, Angela, Juanita, Briget Ren and me. This month it was Melliska’s turn to choose again. She had quite a few options and finally settled on this fun and cute inspo.
I was really drawn to this image and especially the colours. It’s very fun and of course I really wanted to do all-of-the-things! The more I contemplated my options the more I realised I should step back and rethink. I usually go all the way and I thought this time I would focus on one element and the colours. The cactus image really caught my eye and as luck would have it, I found the perfect image. So let me show you what I did.
I was very drawn by the colours used and when I saw this polish I knew it would be perfect! So I started with 2 coats of Dollish Polish – Sploosh on all my nails While that was drying I started with the stamping. I stamped using Essence – Stamp it 02 (Girls just wanna have fun) and Mundo de Unas – Black. I then used Essence – Beijos de Brazil for the cactus and Essence – Coral me crazy and Essence – Shade of happiness for the containers. I then applied these to my ring and middle finger. I topcoated and that was that.
I really quite like how this ended up. I am glad I didn’t go full tilt and do the sugar skulls, llama piñata and sombreros. I had all the plates ready and then decided to focus on what spoke to me the most, cactus. I love the colours in the base polish and I think it works so well with the stamping. What do you think? What is your favourite part of the inspo image?
