I recently had another birthday. The number of them are starting to get too high to mention but a great day was had nonetheless.
I mentioned in a (much) earlier post about how I was spoilt with an early birthday present. I love my Kenwood. I really didn’t expect anything else but i was really spoilt! Not all of it was ‘birthday’ spoils but I was still spoilt.
I’ve been wanting to put pink streaks in my hair since forever. I was gently nudged (*cough* MamaZombieZA) to just do it already and after hubby agreed and encouraged he sent me off to get it done. I was super annoyed after making the
appointment, confirming they would do it, confirming the colour etc. I got there and was promptly told that they can’t do it and the lady I spoke to when making the appointment made a mistake. i chatted to someone else who worked there (with purple hair) and she confirmed that they do the ‘crazy colours’. After talking the main honcho again she said they do it but that it washes out eventually. Hubby eventually phoned them and gave them a piece of his mind. Long story short. Hours later I was finally done. It wasn’t the shade of pink I wanted and after everything was done they told me that I have to wash every ‘streak’ separately, wrap them in foil and then wash the rest of my hair. If I didn’t it would all run and the pink would spread to the rest of my hair. I had the best intentions of doing it their way. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t playing along. I got caught in the rain and within seconds the pink was all over. I should’ve known it was a mess when pink water started running down my face but when hubby walked in the door and said “i see the rain wasn’t kind to your hair” i knew. Funny thing, I actually love it more now that is everywhere. The first photo was the day after it was done and the second photo was taken Sunday night. **disclaimer: The second photo was taken at night after a day of swimming and playing in the sun. Not neat but it does show how the colour has spread.
So, as if that was not enough spoiling, there was more. Since forever ago I saw this rocking chair at Mr Price Home that I just love!! It’s beautiful! When I saw it for the first time I told hubby that the day we find out we are having a baby I NEED that chair. Every time since when we see the chair I give him a gentle reminder. So when we saw it again recently and I gave him the gentle reminder, we walked around it, inspected it, tested it and before I knew it i had it! yes that’s right, I now have this beautiful gorgeous chair. I love it so so much. When the in laws arrived his mother also gave me his knitted blankie that was made for him by his granny when he was born. I figured this beautiful chair is the perfect place for this sentimental blankie. Oh and just to be clear, no, there is no baby on the way that we know of. 😉 (Will take photo’s of it soon and post)
Of course, I also got more books. The bookshelf is now officially full. Try as I might I can not squeeze one more book in there. I think the dogs were trying to do me a favour though. I went out one day when it was raining non stop. I felt sorry for them and decided to leave them in the house. When I came back they had shredded about 5 of my books. I was livid. I will not do that again. Silly dogs. They’re lucky I love them as much as I do. 😉
I am sure I am leaving out something but my mind is failing me as usual. Birthday dinner is another post altogether.
