Hi lovelies,
It’s Friday AND the start of another long weekend. I don’t know about you but that sounds like a double win to me. I hope you have a lovely weekend and really great plans!
I wore these when I went to the Rain Africa blogger event and I had a slight love / hate relationship with it. I saw these done with some different colours by Marce7ina but it was featured on Snobka here. She used yellow where I used pink but I really like it with the yellow too. I am also really sorry about the meh photos. I have no idea why there was such a glare.
I started with 2 coats of Sinful Colors – Snow me white on all my nails. When that was completely dry, I taped off my nails in the middle, vertically. I then painted Sinful Colors – Daredevil onto one half of my nail and immediately pulled off the tape. I did this one nail at a time and left that to dry completely. While I was waiting for that to dry I cut strips of black striping tape. Once the polish was completely dry I added the strips of striping tape over the white starting the first one right where the pink and white meet. This is where my problems came in. I top coated this twice but by the end of the next day the striping tape was already peeling off. I also could quite get the tape to look as neat as it could’ve. I absolutely loved this but next time I will definitely try another way of doing this. What do you think?
I also really love the pink with the black and white stripes. I also think this is a design that you can do in many many colour variations and get a completely different look altogether.
What do you think of this? What colour combinations would you use?
Thanks for reading,

I’ve had the same problem with tape when you leave it on the nail, it seems no amount of top coat can stop it from peeling up. This looks really great though, even if it doesn’t last long!

*grumble grumble* I was super annoyed by it, mostly because I was going to the event. But at least it still looked good 🙂 Thanks Kerry! xx

I also find striping tape peels. So, I prefer to just use it to paint over. Maybe painting black over the tape and leaving the white will give the same effect?

I also usually just paint over and peel off. I won’t be using it as is in a hurry again 😛
Yes I will do it that way next time.

It’s a shame they began peeling because your stripes look PERFECT. Maybe next time paint over the striping tape with black? May be tricky to do on half a nail, I’m not sure.
I think I’d like red because I always love those three colors together. 😉
Jealous of your two long weekends in a row! Enjoy! 🙂

aw thanks so much Lesley. That’s a great idea, I will definitely try that next time. I actually think it will look amazing with red, white and black. I wish I had thought of that!

I love a classic combo between black, white and pink. My stripes always mess up though so I avoid featuring them in my nail designs.

I think this is damn stunning and I’m disappointed the tape didn’t stay down! I don’t know if it’ll work but what about putting on a thin layer of top coat and then laying the tape down, then another thicker layer of top coat??

Thank you so much V! That’s a good idea! Do you mean putting the tape down while the thin layer of topcoat isn’t completely dry? That is a brilliant idea! Thanks

Oooh So pretty! Love this to death! Dunno how you manage to work with striping tape, I never get it right. Get fed up too quickly lol. I personally prefer the pink, much more striking.

Aww thank you so much Tyler! I am obsessing over stripes and find striping tape quite nifty and – dare I say – easy. If it helps at all, I use tweezer and cut strips off beforehand and stick it onto a bottle. 😉
