Owl love

Hello lovelies,

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend.  I know I did!

Every second person seem to be loving owls at the moment.  I am not a huge lover of owls but when I saw some owl inspired nail art I thought it was super cute and knew I had to recreate it.  This is what I came up with.

As you can imagine I used a ton of colours for this so I will show you all the colours individually after I’ve signed off.  I started with a base colour of Zoya – Cho.  Once that was completely dry I used those ring reinforcement stickers to create my half moons.  I did each finger and pulled off the sticker as soon as I painted the nail.  Then I went in with the lighter shade and freehanded the bottom shape.  It was quite easy to do it with the bottle brush as it was just a few strokes. I used a small dotting tool with orange polish to do the beak and a bigger dotting tool to do the eyes and the dots on the ‘body’.  Here are the colours I used:

  • Dark purple – Sinful Colors – Amethyst
  • Light purple – Essence – Hello Marshmallow
  • Dark yellow – Sinful Colors – Pull Over
  • Light yellow – Tip Top – Lemon Fuel
  • Dark pink – Sinful Colors – Daredevil
  • Ligh pink – Essence – Free Hugs
  • Dark blue – Sinful Colors – Why Not?
  • Light blue – Tip Top – Beach Babe
  • Dark green – Catrice – I’m not a greenager
  • Light green – Essence – Upper Green Side
  • Orange – Essence – Flashy Pumpkin

I really liked how this came out.  I think it looks so cute.  I can imagine this will look good in one colour family or even in a brown / nude colour scheme.  So many possibilities.  In other words, you don’t need a ton of colours in a dark and light shade to do this.  It is also so much easier than it looks!  Why don’t you give it a try?

    • Thank you so much Luzanne. It is actually so much easier than it looks. I know this because I don’t have a steady hand at all 😉 My non-dominant hand didn’t look quite as nice as the other but I was able to do it. Which, again, goes to show how do-able it is. 🙂

  13. Oh, and that Sinful a Colors yellow is awesome, I’ve been going through my polishes today trying to find a good yellow for a design and of course, this ones perfect 😛 My yellows are too buttery, not enough lemony ; )
    Do you find that some Sinfuls stain like nobody’s business too?

    • Thank you so much. I think this is one of my favourite yellows (that isn’t pastel or neon)
      I have a few that stain like crazy but not more so than other brands. I find Sally Hansen to be the worst stainers ever 😉
