Hello lovelies,
It’s weekend already and I am looking forward to it after a busy and productive week. How has your week been? Are you ready for the weekend?
I have waited for this collection for so long and I was stupid excited when it finally landed on my desk. I know it has gotten some mixed reviews but I was still excited because of the variety of colours and finishes. A lot of them quite unique. So let me get straight to showing you
China Glaze – Ah ah ah-mazing
This is 2 coats without topcoat. This is a silver toned lilac metallic with a hint of pearl. I was surprised by this one. The colour is beautiful but I actually really like the finish more than I expected. It’s different to a standard metallic. I also saw some people battle with brush strokes and I was suprised that it wasn’t as bad as I expected. Up close like these photos you can see some (less than I expected) but looking at it on my nails it was barely visible. It’s really beautiful and applied really well too. Opacity is really nice too and two coats was more than enough.
China Glaze – Beak on fleek
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a matte yellow and I didn’t want to like it. I mean, I could take any yellow and add a matte topcoat and that would be that right? Well, turns out I loved this one. Yes it is just a regular yellow with a matte finish but it is gorgeous. Now, let’s talk application. It is a little streaky at first but when it dries it actually dries smooth. I was a bit nervous at first but before I could even go in with the second coat the streakiness was already gone. On the other hand, it also appears more opaque while it is still wet and dries a little sheerer. This is 2 coats and you can see a slight bit of nail line and that wasn’t there at all before it dried. I am sure a third coat would sort that out in a jiffy though and even though I am not a fan of VNL, this didn’t bother me at all.
China Glaze – Dat colour dough
This is 2 coats with topcoat. This is a blue and silver micro glitter in a clear base. I could’ve used a third coat to get more coverage. It’s really pretty and sparkly but it’s really just glitter. As beautiful as it is it isn’t super unique. Luckily China Glaze makes some good glitter and I suspect this will also be nice as a topper. My favourite part of this polish is the name but it doesn’t make the polish less pretty.
China Glaze – Ernie your stripes
This is 2 coats with topcoat. This is an orange with a very strong and visible gold shimmer. I want to say this might be a jelly base because it is quite sheer but it does build up beautifully. It also applies really well and the coats aren’t thick so you could easily add a third. I have some slight nail line but the shimmer is so striking you would barely even notice. This is a favourite and I liked it more than I thought it would.
China Glaze – Free to be sesame
This is 2 coats with topcoat. This is a green jelly packed with green and holo micro glitter. You guys! How gorgeous is this? This is just absolutely stunning and applied like a dream. Great coverage and formula and really, everyone needs this! It is such a beautiful colour and then add the holographic glitter and it is next level stunning. I did try to get a flash shot to show off some of the holo so let me show you that.
China Glaze – Fur real though
Ugh I wish my camera didn’t hate pink so much 🙁 This is 3 coats with no topcoat. This is a hot pink jelly and it’s gorgeous. It is a very bright pink and it is super shiny. It applies really well but it is a bit sheer in at first. I did get full coverage in 3 easy coats and I promise it is so much more beautiful than I can show you here.
China Glaze – Grover it
This is 2 coats with topcoat. It is a dark blue packed with blue and holo glitter. This is so beautiful and also applied really well and easily. It is surprisingly more opaque than I expected (I am not sure what I expected to be honest) and the glitter and holo is absolutely stunning. Get this one!! Here is a flash shot to show a bit more of that sparkle
China Glaze – I believe in Snuffy
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. I really struggle to explain this one and even to really show it off. This is a peachy jelly with a pearly finish AND a heck of a gold shimmer. I am also not sure how I feel about it. I love the colour but I went back and forth between really loving it and being a little iffy. It is really unique though and it did apply well even though it is a little on the sheer side. I would probably add a third coat. I got away with 2 as the gold shimmer is quite forgiving.
China Glaze – Living in the Elmo-ment
This is 2 coats with topcoat. This is a red packed with silver and holo glitter. This was actually quite opaque and applied really well and evenly. It is really pretty but I so wish this had the smaller micro glitter like Grover it and Free to be sesame. The glitter is quite chunky and even though it isn’t textured, it does need a thick coat of topcoat to be smooth. It’s really pretty though and I was actually surprised by the opacity. I do have a poor attempt to show you the sparkle with a flash shot but you can probably see this better in the bottle than on my nails here.
China Glaze – Monsterpiece
This is 2 coats with topcoat. This is a beautiful pink with pink glitter and holo flakes. I am obsessed. The holo flakes is actually quite holo and this also applied so easily and beautifully. You might want a third coat but 2 was enough for me. This is absolutely stunning and another favourite of mine. I have no idea why I didn’t take a flash shot of this one to show the holo more so you’ll just have to take my word for it. 😉
China Glaze – Trash can-do attitude
This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a metallic green with a very striking gold shift. This applied well and was a little sheer on the first coat but builds up well with the second. I also really like this one as it is also on the unique side. The shade of green is really pretty already but the gold shift is really striking. Yet another favourite for me!
There is another polish in this collection. China Glaze – I count even... is a very very sheer purple and I just didn’t see a way for me to use it so I didn’t think it would have a purpose on my rack. It is a really pretty colour but it is very sheer.
So what do you think of this collection? I do already have a comparison request which I will do very soon so let me know if you want to see any other comparisons with any of these polishes. Do you have a favourite? Is this a collection that got you excited? Don’t forget, if you’re in South Africa and want to get your hands on these you can pop over to my shop and grab them for yourself. Just another note. Unfortunately I have to postpone Tuesday Stamping next week. It will be moved to the week after.
